The Savage is my first street bike. Been a trail rider
since a kid, kinda looked at street bikes as crazy.
The reason was while riding some back roads as a kid,
I got rear ended by a chevy...life was never the
same, nor left shoulder.
I just got the Savage and being older (40's) and a
heckuva lot more scared of cars then most people,
I have found the Savage handles very smoothly, has
enough power as long as you keep off the interstates
where even the old ladies are doing 90+.
What really has helped me was starting slow. Riding
neighborhoods with slow speed limits. Getting used to
the bike, et cetera.
Good luck, you will enjoy this very much, and don't
let the hard riding people you will eventually meet
pressure you to ride their style (I know I have two
friends who ride like hell, one is busted up right now
in the hospital!).
And one last note, this is a great, great, board.
They have helped me with every mechanical ? and they
have been right on every time!
Take care,
pb
